Buenas tardes,
WHEW man it has been a really long, exhausting week! My new comp, Elder Monsen got here last Monday so our goals for this week were for him to get to know the whole area and meet everyone, so that meant lots and lots of walking. We found like eight new investigators this week and met just about every single less-active member in our area (most of which I didn't even know existed, because there's just so many of them haha). Either way, it felt good to get back into the way of things and I feel like everything with my new comp is going well. He's kind of a goofy guy but he's super funny and he has a lot of experience on the mission so I've already learned quite a bit from him.
So kind of a funny story my comp and I were looking for a reference that the other missionaries here gave us, a dude named 'Jesus.' So this reference didn't have an exact address on it, just the name of the neighborhood and the color of car, so the only option we had really was to ask people if they knew a Jesus that lived in their area. So we walk up to these two older guys that are sitting out in front of their house or something and we just ask them, 'hey we're looking for a guy named Jesus that lives around here, do you guys know where he lives?' And he just responds, 'yeah, I know him, he lives up there' (fingers pointed in the sky towards heaven). And then we just realized how ironic it was that we were two missionaries looking for Jesus and asking people if they knew where he lived. Idk we just looked at each other and laughed it off so hard haha. I know that was kinda stupid but to the two of us it was really funny.
Let's see, it's warming up A LOT here and that means tons and tons of sweating and it makes it even worse when people don't open their doors or when they aren't home. I can't wait to be home and just be able to sit inside all day in the nice AC haha. It's crazy to think that I've already been out for ten months, before you know it I'll be at a year and then I'll be counting down!
Pues, gracias por todo. Les amo mucho y espero que tengan buena semana!
Con amor, Elder Thayne
