Alright so I've got a story for you guys as well. So we've been teaching this older investigator family and maaaan I've never had such a hard time teaching the gospel to anyone. We taught them about the Restoration and the Priesthood and why it's important to have the right authority for baptism. They've already been to church plenty of times and have told us that they believe in Joseph Smith and that he was a prophet. So we start explaining it like we always do and one of the investigators just stops us where we're at in the middle of the discussion and says, 'oh hey my car that's out front right there was blessed by someone with that power because the previous owner was a Christian and it never breaks down.' I just looked over at my comp and thought, 'what in the heck????' But anyways we keep going and teaching them as simply as we possibly could to the point where they're starting to understand what we're saying. So we ask them some questions about the Priesthood and they seem like they've got it. So I ask them, 'why is baptism important?' And they give us the right answer back at us. So then I ask them, 'why is it important that we get baptized by someone with the right authority?' Again, they give us the right answer back. Perfect, I thought, we've got them right where we want them for a baptismal invitation. So I ask them, 'will you be baptized by someone who holds this Priesthood authority?' and then they respond by saying, 'no it's just that we've already been baptized before in another church.' And wheeeew my patience just flew right out of the window. We tried teaching them like three times but they could just not understand that whole concept. It was just super frustrating. They even went on to talk about a six year old boy that they knew who spoke about the Bible really well so they thought he was a prophet as well.......yeah no words for that. Some people just aren't blessed with intelligence or have a hard time learning but I guess my role as a missionary is to teach them in a way that they can understand, even if that means teaching primary lessons. We'll be teaching them again this week so I'll let you know what happens next visit haha.
Umm lets see...well it's actually been surprisingly cool this week weather-wise. My comp and I and getting along really well and we've been finding a lot of work as of late. I wish I could have been there for Mom's birthday and everything but I guess there will be a day for that in the future. Everything else has been going well for me and I hope you guys are all doing great! Love you all.
