Buenas tardes familia,This week has been really tiring for my comp and I. On Tuesday, we packed everything up from our apartment in order to move into our place the next day but our ride/truck fell through so we had to wait until Thursday to move so we were basically house-less for a day haha. But we moved everything into our new place and all is good now. The new place has: tile floors, a kitchen, shelves for clothes, a closet that isn't pop-up, keys that actually lock the front door, a couch, a stove, and even hot water! It's been quite the upgrade for me from living in the other POS house for about the past four months. Moving everything from our other apartment to this new one was a pain in the butt but I'm just glad to be out of that other place haha.
With that, we've officially changed areas as well and we have an investigator, Hermana Trinidad, that is ready to be baptized this month along with her two girls! All we have to do is set an official date for the baptism, teach the last two lessons and she'll be ready. She's come to church eight times already with her family and her husband is a member and what the other Elders told us is that she's completely ready and willing. I'll be sure to keep you guys posted on that and let you know what happens, Our other baptism, Juan, has been to the church five times already and is set to be baptized this week or the next, just depending on when the font/people are ready for him. So by the end of the month my comp and I could baptize four people! I'm super stoked and honestly just pray that they follow through because I couldn't be more ready baptize them.
This Friday was our branch's Christmas party and man it was one of the best nights I've had yet out here on the mission. We ate some tamales, menudo (still gross to me), cake, and plenty of Mexican candy. There was dancing, karaoke, and quite a bit of American Christmas songs playing throughout the night as well. We had a pinata out behind the chapel for the kids but none of them could take it down so they said, "hey let's give the stick to the gringo!" Sooner or later I knocked out the candy and I can honestly tell you I had never felt so Mexican up until that night haha. I really love the members and people here.
Well, everything else is good with me. We've got plenty of food in the refridgerator from members and we just got paid today so todo esta bien conmigo. Gracias por todo, les amo mucho y estoy esperando para Navidad porque podré hablar con ustedes por Skype.
Con amor, Elder Thayne
