Whew a lot happened this past week! It was super nice to be able to Skype with you guys, definitely the best present a missionary could ask for. Everything's been continuing to go my way, Christmas day itself was super fun and some members even ended up giving us some presents as well! It was just overall a great week and we met quite a few new investigators as well. Two of the investigators that we met this past week speak English as their first language so I've had the opportunity to be able to teach in English with them! It honestly feels kind of awkward to speak in English, especially gospel-topic stuff because I'm so used to calling God as Dios and Joseph Smith as Jose Smith haha. But it's been nice to be able to express more of my thoughts and feelings in my own tongue so I have nothing to complain about.
On Saturday, our district was able to baptize three people into the branch! So remember how I've been telling you guys about our investigator, Juan? He was one of the three that were baptized that day by yours truly :) He was in our area up until the area change and we had taught him all of the lessons so all the other Elders had to do was set the date for him and he was ready. So we all show up about an hour before the baptism and the zone leaders interviewed him for about a half hour. About 20 minutes before the baptism, Elder Dixon told me that he wanted me to baptize him, which was cool and all, except for the fact that I didn't bring ANY of my baptismal clothes because I thought the other Elders were going to do it. Anyways, after searching through the huge stack of baptismal clothes, I found an over-sized jumpsuit that fit me alright and then it was go time! The water wasn't heated in any way, other than a couple small water-heater things called resistances. So when we walked down into the steps we both let out a good scream and by the time it was all said and done, we were freezing cold!! But nonetheless, baptizing him was such a great experience and honestly it just felt so nice to see all of our hard work and spiritual experiences with him amount to something tangible. He's a great guy and I know he's going to grow even more with the gospel in his life.
Well, that about sums up my past week. If you guys have any more questions for me feel free to ask me! Les quiero mucho, tengan una buena semana
Con amor, Elder Thayne
