Buenas tardes familia!
Ojala que todos estén bien. Elder Poole and I had a GREAT week work-wise and were really able to find a ton of new people to visit with and teach. It really was a great week but man am I tired haha.
Well, transfers are today and Elder Poole left this morning to go to open up a small town and start up a new branch in a town called La Mesa. It's about a half hour south of Nogales and he seems really excited about it. My new companion, Elder Hernandez, gets here in a few hours and I'll be picking him up at the bus station around 9. I've already met him before and he's a really cool, funny guy. He's actually from Salt Lake and English is his first language and I have a good feeling these couple transfers together are going to be super good and I'm really excited to get some work done!
Well I really don't have much else to tell you about this week so I thought I'd share a scripture with you guys that I really liked a lot. We had a zone meeting earlier this past week and we were talking about rebellion in the mission and how it all comes from Satan. So I pulled out Mosiah 2 and read about the last six verses of it with them but I really really like the last two from the chapter and how they draw the comparison between those who follow Satan and those who heed to the Spirit.
40 O, all ye old men, and also ye young men, and you little children who can understand my words, for I have spoken plainly unto you that ye might understand, I pray that ye should awake to a remembrance of the awful situation of those that have fallen into transgression.
41 And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold outfaithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.
I love how King Benjamin here uses the word ''consider.'' He's asking us to consider how happy and blessed the people are who follow God. I've been able to visit and meet over 1000 people probably out here on the mission and I've been able to see the true difference between those who live the principles of the gospel and those who don't, even within members of the church. The only true way to find happiness and have and hold a permanent change in our lives is through the Savior, Jesus Christ and his Atonement. As we listen to the teachings of the Spirit and heed them and not those of Satan, we can find real hope and peace in our lives. I know these things are true because I've learned, felt, and lived them.
Thanks for all of the emails, I really do love you guys.
Con amor, Elder Thayne
