Buenas tardes familia,
This week was another one for the books! Elder Hernandez and I have been walking back and forth from our apartment to our new area just about two times a day, everyday. It's what we've been having to do until the zone leaders come by and check out our new apartment we've found but we're going to be moving this week. But I haven't really minded though because we have a ton of new investigators and it looks like we're going to be placing some baptismal dates this week with them! One of the investigators has already came to sacrament meeting seven times so literally all we have to do is finish teaching her the lessons and set a date with her this month and she'll be ready to be dunked! So I guess you can say that the work has been going really well for us lately, just excited to finally change houses and work even harder.
I gave my first talk in sacrament meeting this week and I think it went really really well. I wasn't that nervous to be honest, and even though it was in Spanish, I was still able to voice my thoughts well and got a ton of compliments from the members here on how well my Spanish was. It took a ton of time to write it all out and everything but in the end it was worth it.
On Saturday the Seventy member of our area and our mission president came and talked directly to us missionaries here in Nogales about the importance of working with members and gaining their trust. It was a really good meeting and it just reminded me that I should always be a friend to the members first and a missionary second. Of all of the Elders that ever visited us back at home, it was always the cool and friendly ones that made more of an impact on me than any of the other Elders that visited us. It's not about numbers or lessons taught, it's about love.
Not much else out of the ordinary really happened this week. Just had a great time enjoying our new area and meeting the people over there. I'm pretty sick of all the walking (anywhere from 5-10 miles a day) but this is where the Lord needs me to be. Everything is good and I look forward to hearing about your guys' holiday plans! Have an awesome week, love you :)
Love, Elder Thayne
P.s. I got the Christmas package today from the member that lives in Arizona, thank you!!!
