Buenas tardes familia,
¡Feliz año nuevo! My comp and I had a really good week work wise and I don't think I've ever eaten so much food in my entire life haha. Like every member and investigator we have invited us to over to eat and then some haha.
My comp and I are getting along great and working better than ever. Our area is a bit difficult but we've been finding lots of new people to teach and we're hoping that at least one of them can progress and make it to the baptismal font. My companion has yet to baptize on his mission (he's been out four months) so President talked to me and gave me the assignment to help him get his first baptism out here in Agua Prieta. I'd be lying if I said it'd be really easy to do that here but we're going to keep working as hard as we can until we can get done what President wants us to do.
Apart from the work, we've really been enjoying ourselves here. Our Branch President invited us over to a carne asada (basically a barbecue but we put the meat in tacos) on New Years Day and that was a lot of fun too. A family also invited us over the night before and we burnt that scarecrow looking dude. It's a tradition they do to represent the old year being gone and a new one starting. It was pretty interesting. Also I don't know if you guys have heard about down here at New Years Eve how everyone here takes their guns out and when it turns 12 everyone shoots their guns. They do that instead of like, let's say, fireworks. It's super crazy and actually kind of dangerous because apparently some of the bullets fall back down and they can hit people. All you can hear is a TON of guns (including some automatics, for example we heard a couple AK47s) and it's really loud. Anyways, we stayed the night inside our house just to be safe but it was a crazy night and really hard to sleep.
Well, that was basically our week. Thanks for the emails and I'll be waiting here anxiously for the package you guys sent me! Thanks so much.
Love you guys, cuídense!
Con amor, Elder Thayne
