With the district at Dairy Queen

Buenas tardes familia!

This week went by SO fast, I feel like the time just keeps going by and by and it's kind of slipping right through my hands. The time is definitely going by a lot faster now than how it did when I first started the mission. But I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing haha.

This week we taught a lot of our investigators and recent converts and have been having a lot of success. I feel like the lessons we're teaching now are a lot more fluid, inspired, and efficient than they were for me when I first started my mission. I feel really comfortable with the language and the investigators we're teaching right now are so much more interested than the previous areas I've had.

I've been feeling really tired lately, both physically and mentally. I'm eating a ton of food every day but even then I seem to always be hungry haha. I guess this is just what happens when missionaries are out for 14 months walking in the sun and teaching every day for over a year. We've still been working like always, but it just feels like I'm feeling the affects of working like that a bit more now than in times past.

Today for P-day we played some basketball at the church in the scolding heat but it was still fun haha. I really like the zone here a lot.

It was crazy to hear than another apostle, Richard G, Scott, died and that they'll be anouncing three more this weekend! I'm so excited for General Conference and can't wait to hear the words of the living prophets.

Thanks for all of the emails and support, I love and miss each of you, cuídense mucho!!

Lots Of New Investigators.

Buenas tardes familia,

This week our convert Jesus Roberto got confirmed in sacrament meeting and we've been re-teaching him a lot of the stuff we've already taught him again. But I really enjoy our lessons together because now we get to teach the doctrine a bit deeper and we can explain a lot more of the details and everything, it's great! It's a lot more spiritual and a lot easier to share your thoughts when the person you're teaching already knows almost all of the basics and has a strong desire to learn more about the gospel.

Other than that the work's been pretty normal lately...we set a baptismal date with a niño who's living with his grandparents for October 10th and I'm really excited for him as well. A lot of our investigators went to church this week and we're hoping to put some baptismal dates with them soon too.

Today for P-day we played some football at the church and then after played some 'Mafia.' There are a lot of new people in the zone so we got to meet a lot of them except for a couple. President Robinson opened up a lot of new areas (little towns) and because of that some missionaries won't be able to come around much because they live so far away.

The weather has cooled down a little bit, it POURED rain yesterday so that was a nice change from the heat.

That was about the week for me, thanks for all of the emails, love you guys!

A Transfer To Nowhere!

Buenas tardes familia,
This Saturday was the baptism of one of the best investigators ever, Jesus Roberto. It was a super great service and even Presidente and Hermana Robinson went to the baptism. There were in total four people who got baptized and it was really nice to see Jesus get baptized. He's a really special person and I'm so glad he made the decision and I can't wait to see how his life changes with the gospel in it.

Today is transfer day in the mission and I got transferred to...nowhere! I'm going to be here another transfer with my companion Elder Williams and my entire district is staying the same as well. By the end of the transfer I'll be 15 months out in the mission with only three areas! I feel like I've been in all of my areas for a really long time; most missionaries usually have at least five areas under their belt around the 15 month mark so I've definitely been blessed to be able to stay in areas for long periods of time.
It's still been pretty hot down here, there was a bit of rain this weekend but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's been colder haha.

We got to watch the Mexico Mexico City Temple re-dedication yesterday and got to hear from President Eyring and Elder Holland and participate in the Hosanna shouts and everything. It was a really cool experience and I actually learned a lot; especially from the talks of those two I just barely mentioned.

I'm really looking forward to another transfer down here in Hermosillo and can't wait to find even more people that are willing to come unto Christ. Thanks for all of the prayers and letters, love you all!

Con amor,
Elder Thayne

Buenas tardes familia,

One more week for the books! We've kept working with our progressing investigator, Jesus Roberto, and he looks ready and prepared for his baptism this Saturday! He's such a great guy and to be honest I think he's the best investigator I've ever had out here on the mission. He just understands everything so well and loves having us over. I'm really excited for him and can't wait for this weekend!

I've been doing well here with my companion, we actually get along really well because he's a really chill guy and we have a lot in common.

The heat's been pretty bad lately but we're hoping it will start to cool down a bit because of fall coming pretty soon.

I read an article online about Joseph Smith and the seer stone he used to translate the BoM and I thought it was a really good read! You guys should check it out. It's interesting because the church has never really been upfront about it but now they're coming out and are more open about the church's history. Here it is if you want to read it:

Well, that was about my week. Thanks for all of the emails! Love you all.
